Come and experience the unique ambience of the forest in the dark

When the furious season of growth is over and summer fades away, the forest slips into a peaceful, quiet cycle in life. As light fades, so does the amount of green around us, giving way to darker, earthy colours. And bit by bit nature goes into winter mode, preserving energy and life.

This is the perfect time for us to head out and embrace the unique ambience of the forest in the dark. When our eyes can´t see, our othes senses take over and the utter silence feels very special. The scents of the wild nature feel powerful and different. It is a perfect moment to reflect and study your thoughts and feelings without interruption.

On this trip we take a short tram/bus ride to a close by nature preserve with plenty of nice trails. We go in when we still have more light (actual schedule will vary according to time of year) and hike to a comfortable, secluded place. We put away our phones and set up spots for everyone to sit alone and experience the night. The spots will be set so that there is no line of sight to the next one, but still safely in formation and close to others. After experiencing a healthy portion of somber darkness, we gather around and discuss what we just experienced over some nice hot tea or juice. Eventually we turn on our headlamps and head back to civilization.

The trip in a nutshell

  • Experience the sights, smells, sounds and ambiance of the night in the Finnish forrest.

  • Enjoy the silence and find your magic moment.

  • Disconnect with the modern world and reconnect with Mother Nature.

  • Total duration of trip: 3-4 hours.

How to prepare

  • Wear proper shoes; Hiking shoes are best, running shoes or boots are OK too. Water proof if possible, this is the land of swamps and thousands of lakes!

  • Dress according to weather; Our summers are warm and winters are cold, and then there´s everything in between. Mostly wet. And wet means quickly cold. So even in the summer, long sleeves and pants are advised, at least brought along. Some type of headwear is good, it´s always good to have as much as possible between you and the sun, rain and mosquitos. Winter is cold, sometimes real cold, wear enough!

  • Open your senses and mind, shut down your phone. Honestly, this is the best thing you can do. Taking pictures is OK of course, but remember that the lens can never experience what your senses can.

  • More detailed instructions will be given according to trip & conditions.
